Top 3 things I wish I knew as a freshman

Excited for college, but wondering how to make the most of your college experience and looking for some pointers?

SDSU juniors Quinton, Naomi, and Rachel share some their top three pieces of advice based on their college experience so far!

Quinton S.

B.S., Biology

  1. Find friends / community. Sitting in your dorm and doing nothing is pretty depressing.

  2. If you go to all your lectures and take notes, it’s pretty hard to not get an A.

  3. Make sure you stay hydrated, eat enough, and get enough exercise and sleep.

Naomi L.

B.A., Television, Film, Media Production

  1. You don’t need to pack as much as you think to live in the dorms or attend classes. Save space in your room and backpack so you have less to move out at the end of the year. All you need are the essentials and a laptop.

  2. Biology 101 World of Animals is not as easy as it seems: not a lot of homework but in person exams are tough.

  3. If you’re a night person, don’t sign up for 8am classes your second semester and beyond because you’ll get used to not having the same schedule every day, and you won’t be able to wake up regularly that early.
